HandySpec® Field Spectrometer Systems
|
Application
The spectral characteristics of
plants and soil is of high interest to farmers since it "tells"
the quality and needs of the fields. Beside the tractor-based
N-Sensor
system of Yara, tec5 offers a robust, portable unit with
the HandySpec Field, mainly for scientific purpose in agriculture,
precision farming and remote sensing. The system is based
upon the same accepted and appreciated technology.
The HandySpec system can also be designed for direct use on
tractors and harvesters for e.g measurements of biomass and
plant canopy modeling.
System description
The portable 2 channel spectral
sensor/spectoradiometer system ist specifically designed for
the measurement of diffuse reflection/emission characteristics
of plants and soil. The sunlight is used as natural light
source. The system is available for the spectral range of
360 - 1100nm as well as 950 - 1700nm (or combined). HandySpec
Field is used by several well known scientific instituts for
years and shows superior performance within this demanding
environment.
Because the intensity and spectral emission of the sunlight
(solar radiance) varies a lot the system is designed as a
2 channel device. As a key functionality the reference channel
permanently compensates for these variations (simultaneously
-VIS system or sequential - NIR system).
